City Of Corvallis Selects Connexionz

The City of Corvallis is nestled in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, within 90 minutes of the Portland Metropolitan area on the West Coast of the United States. Corvallis has a residential population of 55,055 and is home to Oregon State University. Corvallis Transit System (CTS) operates a fleet of 12 buses and 1 trolley vehicle which provide a fare less public transit service for the City of Corvallis.

CTS are looking to the vehicle information system to provide reliable and accurate vehicle tracking and accurate passenger information including “real-time bus finding”; a feature that will allow riders to use their smart phones to see exactly where their bus is on the route. The vehicle information system will also have automated voice announcements of next stop information and automated passenger counting to help CTS determine which stops are most heavily used and to enable schedules and routes to be designed based on actual ridership data.

“In the past two years Connexionz marketing efforts have been primarily in the greater California region, and we are pleased to now win our first contract in California’s neighboring state, Oregon. Our success is a product of a our selective focus on prospective customers in the vicinity of our strong reference sites in Santa Clarita and Tri Delta Transit, and reward for the concentrated efforts of our sales team. Through our reference sites we have been able to demonstrate our ability to deliver our advanced functionality including automated next stop announcements, automated passenger counting and location based media which has shown Connexionz is capable of reliably delivering all the requirements our prospective customers are seeking” said Roger Carruthers, Connexionz CEO.

“The delivery schedule is tight with an in-service date of August this year, but it’s something our project deployment team has become accustomed to, having delivered similar and larger systems in shorter time-frames. Our TransitManager ITS solution is an off the shelf system, so deploying fully featured ITS systems in short time-frames isn’t something that phases us.” stated Rhod Pickavance, Sales Director at Connexionz.

In the last eighteen months the Company was awarded a US$2.8 million contract for the supply of an automated vehicle location and passenger information system for the Golden Empire Transit District in Bakersfield California. A further major contract was secured from Santa Clarita Transit valued at US$0.8M for the supply of an on vehicle location based visual display system. This was Connexionz third significant contract with Santa Clarita following the completion of the Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) contract in April 2011. This latest contract was successfully completed in late March 2013.
